In 1904 and on the cusp of the dawn of aviation, the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont asked his friend Louis Cartier to design a watch he could use during flight. The watch that Cartier came up with became what we now know to be the Cartier Santos Dumont, and in some senses, the first ever tool watch. The design has evolved tastefully over the following decades whilst retaining its core design DNA, and cementing its place as one of the iconic watch models. 

This particular Cartier Paris example is a reference 1576 in 18k gold and features an "extra thin" manually wound 021 MC movement, based on the Frédéric Piguet 21 calibre. This reference also stars a fine, beautiful guilloché dial. The watch is twinned to a Molequin strap with generic gold plated pin buckle.

The watch is also supplied with Cartier service paperwork dated 2022 at the cost of over $500 USD.

This watch is an excellent, clean example and is ready to wear. The dial is in excellent condition, as is the case with minimal scratching. The strap and buckle are in very good condition, and the glass is free of marks. The watch is working well.
